15 La prohibición de las expulsiones colectivas de extranjeros ante el tribunal europeo y la corte interamericana de derechos humanos The prohibition of collective expulsions of aliens before the european court and the inter- american court of human rights Guillem Cano Palomares 1 RESUMEN El presenteartículoanaliza la jurisprudenciadel Tribunal EuropeodeDerechosHumanos en materia de prohibición de expulsiones colectivas de extranjeros, y la compara con la praxis jurisprudencial de su homóloga americana, la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos. Sobre la base de este análisis se identifican los puntos coincidentes y las diferencias entre ambos sistemas regionales de protección de derechos humanos en la materia, así como los posibles retos que las crisis migratorias que afectan a ambos continentes plantean en la actualidad. SUMMARY The present article analyses the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights concerning the prohibition of collective expulsions of aliens, and compares it with the case-law of its American counterpart, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. On the basis of this analysis, the article aims at identifying the similarities and the differences between both regional systems for the protection of human rights in this field, as well as the possible challenges that the migration crisis affecting both continents currently pose.
