Due to repression under Maduro’s regime and the spiraling and unpredictable economic downturn in Venezuela, more migrants from the neighboring country have recently crossed the border into Colombia either transiting toward the south of the continent or looking for opportunities in this country. Massive unprecedentedmigrations raise particularly complex challenges for healthcare systems in Low-and Middle- Income countries. As the situation in Venezuela continues to deteriorate and more migrants flee the humanitarian crisis, Colombia has to be prepared to incorporate their health needs into its national health plan and determine whether it will cover more than just basic urgent care. This article analyzes Colombia’s obligation of providing medical care for the thousands of Venezuelan migrants that cross the border every year and those who are currently undocumented in the country under the light of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.
